The 2022 IDU Football Championship was the fifth IDUFC tournament, hosted in Libertas Omnium Maximus between August 22, 2022 and October 13, 2022. The Lauchenoirians ultimately won the tournament, defeating the Xiomerans in the final match.
Following the 2018 IDU Football Championship, Libertas Omnium Maximus engaged in a fierce bidding war with Legionas over hosting rights in 2019/2020. An agreement was eventually reached and Legionas was given hosting rights for the 2019/2020 iteration of the tournament, with the understanding that the Maximusians would have the opportunity to host in 2022. In 2021, Maximusian cities Litudinem, Lumeniola, and Iustitia City were selected to host tournament matches. Many criticized the decision to concentrate matches in the nation's southern-coastal region, snubbing Maximusian interior cities of the opportunity to experience the increased tourist traffic that accompanies hosting. Later that year, Perra, the birthplace of professional association football in the Maximusian Republic, was added as a host city.
