Jeonyu is a port city in Haesan, and it is the capital of Imyu Province. With a population of just over 1 million people, it is the 16th most populous city in Haesan, and it is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Originally a pearl diving and fishing outpost, Jeonyu became a center of international commerce as a stopover connecting the Albarine basin with the Slokasian island chain. It was the historic capital of the Kim Dukedom, a generally weak government which was ceded to expanding Choi forces in the 8th century. Jeonyu's dual connections to major urban centers like Anmi and Suyang by both land and sea made it a primary target for development during the Dominion of United Haesan, and for most of its early history it was the most significant port city on Haesan's Promethean coast. During Haesan's Imperial period, Jeonyu was opened as a Valahandian trade zone, where seafood, citrus, metal manufactures, and ship parts were major exports.

During the 18th century, Jeonyu was squarely within the Opthelian sphere of influence, and was insulated from much of the fighting during the War of Haesanite Succession. Jeonyu was transformed by reforms during the early colonial administration, as a shift towards cotton production in nearby Yeongnam Province led the city to become a major manufacturing and export center for textiles, which would remain a core industry for the city. Jeonyu would remain fairly neutral during both the Haesanite independence movement and the April Coup, generally supporting incumbents if they helped maintain the economic status quo. During the Great War, Jeonyu was an early target city for advancing Slokasian forces, and it was captured in August 1963. Its liberation would not occur until March 1966, when it would help serve as a launch point for coalition troops during the Second Slokasian Civil War. In recent years, it has expanded significantly in both size and population due to the benefits of globalization, and it now supports a large communities of Slokasian and Mallacan immigrants.

Manufacturing of consumer goods has been a core component of Jeonyu's economy for over two centuries, primarily in textiles, but also in consumer goods. Seollim Electronics' "penta-factory" which manufactures about 40% of its smartphones is located in the city's suburb of Sanyeong. Jeonyu has also turned into a major center for broadcasting, both as a key production center for broadcasting equipment and as a locus for Haesanite companies to broadcast to the broader Southeast Hesperidan region. Tourism is also a significant industry, with many visitors traveling to the city's many beaches and resorts, along with many others along Haesan's southern Promethean coast.

Jeonyu is primarily connected to the rest of Haesan by the high-speed Southern Express Line, operated by Haecheol. Jeonyu's primary airport, Jeonyu Chang Su-jin International (JYU), is the nation's 8th busiest, driven by foreign leisure tourists. The city is also a terminus of the Inter-Provincial Highway System's key H2 inter-province major, which connects Sinju to Jeonyu. The city is served by a small commuter-centric metro system.

Jeonyu's sports teams have had modest success in recent years, with Hansaeng Jeonyu FC routinely in the top half of the Commonwealth League. The SBS Jeonyu Towers are one of the original six teams of the HNL and won an Astral Cup as recently as 2019. The Jeonyu Bengals are the winningest team in the history of the Haesanite Drywall Ball Association.
