Sinju is the third most populous city in Haesan, and the largest in Sinhan Province, of which it serves as one of the dual administrative centers. One of the first cities in Haesan to be permanently settled, the city has long been a key respite for religious missionaries, and hosts key sites for both the Haean (Neo-Minjian) Faith and Celestial religion. Largely isolated from the upheaval of both colonial warfare and the Great War, Sinju developed a reputation as the most scholarly of Haesan's cities and focused on economics and trade rather than needing to build up martial prowess. Contributing to this factor was the city's advantageous location on hills cradling the Gulf of Sinju, leading to Sinju's iconic crescent-shaped city layout. Sinju's main economic activity lies in shipbuilding and chemicals production, while biotech and pharmaceuticals are rapidly developing industries. Sports are very popular in Sinju, especially baseball, where the Sinju Ghosts have won 5 out of the last 15 Astral Cups.
