The Chancellery is the Sanctarian governmental department responsible for supporting the Chancellor of Sanctaria and the Government of Sanctaria. The Chancellery was created in 1974, as the Department of the Prime Minister, along with most other governmental departments. The role of the Chancellery is to support the policy agenda of the Chancellor and their cabinet through high quality policy advice and the coordination of the implementation of key government programs.
The Chancellery is headquartered in Government Manor, the formal seat of government in the government district of Sanctus. The Chancellery is led by the Chancellor, who is nominated and confirmed by the House of Deputies, and appointed by the President. The current Chancellor is Ethan Ringrose MP, who is the leader of the Democratic Left Party, the largest party in the House of Deputies. He has served as Chancellor since December 14, 2018.
Organisation[edit | edit source]
The Chancellery is headed by the Federal Chancellor of the Divine Federation, also known as the Chancellor of Sanctaria. The Chancellor is aided by the senior civil servant in charge of the department, the Director-General. The Department itself is then split into various divisions or directorates, with each division headed by other senior civil servants, Directors, who report to both the Director-General and the Chancellor. This is mirrored in all other government departments, with the only political staff being the Chancellor or Secretary themselves, or any other politician appointed to aide them. Civil servants throughout the department report to their superiors, who eventually report to the Director-General, who is then answerable to the Chancellor. The Chancellor in turn is answerable to the Sanctarian House of Deputies.
