Slokasian Rail Authority is a railway operator in Slokais Islands. It is an agency inside the Ministry of Transportation that runs over 2,000 miles of track in Slokais. Slokasian Rail was created in 1918 by President Alexander Lin, although greatly expanded during the 1930s and 40s. In 2022 passenger traffic was 115,789,456 journeys over the course of the year.

History[edit | edit source]

Rail transportation in Slokais began in the year 1868 with the opening of the Central Railway from San Fernando to Semragana by the San Fernando Rail Corporation. Although the line was private and mainly served the wealthy landowners of Semragana. Most early rail remained segregated with Blancos and Costenioans in one car and all other ethnic groups in another. This was due to rail being seen as an attraction rather than a public service, however, when the number of those who used railways for traveling to work and school grew, demand for a public rail system grew within the colonial govermeant. In 1881, the first public rail service opened from New Liverpool to San Fernando, with a freight line being built alongside to connect the two cities.

Republic Era[edit | edit source]

High-Speed Era[edit | edit source]

Between 1995 and 2015, 21 billion Marks were spent on upgrading the system to high speed and building new lines. The gage for most lines is 3'6" but some smaller lines are non-electrified slower trains. The route of most lines is made to go through already built city transit hubs and then from those hubs smaller slower local lines. However, the fastest train is the San Fernando Line from San Fernando through San Jose and New Liverpool and ends in Victoria City. On average trains on the San Fernando Line can go up to 200 mph or 321kmh.

Ammenties and Fairs[edit | edit source]

On some of the longer train trips, meals are included in your ticket price, for example, the San Fernando Line typically has a selection of rice dishes. Ticket prices are set per mile with lower prices on off-peak hours. However less-used lines are not set per mile but at a set price. Tickets can be either in physical form or in an SR Railcard which is taken from your balance every time you swipe at the exits of platforms. These tickets can be filled either by phone or by ticket machine. Fair is reduced for those under 12 and over 65, with homeless persons receiving free fair cards for certain lines.

SR Connections[edit | edit source]

Slokasian Rail operates or jointly operates a number of non-railroad lines. This includes the Silver Train, a direct metro line between New Liverpool Station and Central Station, the hub of the New Liverpool Metro. SR also operates a number of bus routes, especially in the Outer Islands. SR also operates an international ferry line from Kirkwall to Sokhae in Haesan.
