Constitution
Constitution of Aredoa

The National Assembly is the bicameral legislature of Aredoa, consisting of the Chamber of Deputies and the Chamber of Regions. There are 520 members of the National Assembly: 400 Deputies and 120 Regional Delegates.

The National Assembly was established by the Constitution of Aredoa, which outlined the National Assembly as the legislative branch of the Republic of Aredoa. Both chambers of the National Assembly convene in the National House of Aredoa, on Vallez Street in Vahania.

The Chamber of Deputies is the lower chamber of the National Assembly and is directly elected through universal suffrage via the single transferable vote. There are 80 electoral constituencies, roughly equal in size and all electing 5 Deputies. The Chamber of Deputies is the dominant chamber due to its directly elected status, with the chamber granting confidence and supply to the Government of Aredoa, approving government nominations for appointment by the President, and having the ability to overrule the upper chamber.

The Chamber of Regions is the upper chamber of the National Assembly. Regional Delegates are elected by Regional Councils immediately following council elections. Regional Delegates are elected via the D'Hondt method; each of Aredoa's 30 Regional Councils elects 3-5 Delegates based on their population. The Chamber of Regions is inferior to the Chamber of Deputies in many ways: it does not have the power to block legislation from becoming law, and the Chamber of Deputies can overturn amendments made by the Chamber of Regions. Nevertheless, the chamber plays an important role in the revision of legislation and oversight of government.
