Princess Caitlin Hart (30 January 1840 - 4 December 1931) of Glanainn was the granddaughter of Aonghas II (1797-1844) of Glanainn, and later the wife of Lord Andrew Hart of Hartwood, a claimant to the throne of North Fleura following the North Fleuran Succession Crisis, 1923-24. She was also the mother of Edith Hart one of the Founding Mothers of Kerlile; and the only mother of a Founder alive during the founding of Kerlile.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Princess Caitlin was born in Deasaig, southern Glanainn to the third son of Prince Aonghas II. She was educated alongside her cousins by private tutors. At the age of 18, she married Lord Andrew Hart of North Fleura, a third cousin of the North Fleuran monarch, and moved to North Fleura to be with her husband.
Marriage[edit | edit source]
Princess Caitlin was allegedly a "troublemaker" at the palace in Glanainn, and was allegedly encouraged to marry a foreigner in order to get her out of the country. While Andrew Hart was somewhat below her position, her parents approved the match after they met at a ball held in Zongongia. In North Fleura, Caitlin gave birth to five children, however only one survived to adulthood, former founder of Kerlile, Edith Hart. Her other daughter and one son passed due to illness, while her other two sons died in the Fleuran Border Conflicts, 1840-1920 at the age of eighteen and nineteen.
Succession Crisis[edit | edit source]
After the death of King Robert IV of North Fleura, a succession crisis began. Her husband, Andrew Hart, and a man called Callum May both held equally valid claims to the throne. It seemed likely to break out into armed conflict, when Andrew Hart passed away, quickly followed by Callum May. With Andrew and Caitlin's daughter Edith as the best remaining claimant, Edith chose instead to found the matriarchal state of Kerlile.
Early Kerlile[edit | edit source]
Caitlin remained in her husband and daughter's hometown of Hartwood while Edith and her fellow founders set out to build the Kerlian state. Caitlin played little role in the foundation; and it is unknown if she supported Edith's vision or not. She passed away in 1931, before the inaugural Council of Kerlile meeting and was buried with her husband in Hartwood Cemetery.
