Buttercity is the capital city of Lauchenoiria. The city is situated in the north-east of the country within Fleura province, and has a metro area population of 2,826,286 (as of the 2016 census). The Federal Parliament of Lauchenoiria is based in the city.
The 2018 IDU Film Festival took place in Buttercity, only two months after the conclusion of the Second Lauchenoirian Civil War. The city was praised for managing to prepare for the festival so shortly after a civil conflict.
Buttercity is the site of frequent protests, especially outside the embassies of other countries[1] and the Federal Parliament[2]. It is also the location for the Lauchenoirian headquarters of a number of multinational businesses[3]. Buttercity also contains an office for the Democratic Times.
The city was also the victim of a cyberattack in 2019 that caused the Lauchenoirian government to halt the rollout of their new smart traffic control system[4].
