Prince Aonghas VI (born 12th December 1996) has been Prince of Glanainn since he was five years old, following the premature death of his father, Aonghas V, due to unknown causes. Due to the solely ceremonial role of the Prince of Glanainn, he has held the role since childhood rather than appointing a regent.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Aonghas VI was born in 1996 as the only child of Aonghas V. Due to his becoming Prince before beginning school, he was privately tutored throughout his childhood and has not attended university.
Role as Prince[edit | edit source]
Since the Opthelian invasion of Glanainn in the 1500s, the role of Prince of Glanainn has been solely ceremonial, with true power resting first in the Empress of Opthelia, and later in the Prime Minister of Glanainn. The Prince is entirely a figurehead, attending events but without any power, even needing to nominally sign legislation. The continuation of the Glannish royal family was a concession made to the protectorate by their Opthelian conquerors and thus has persisted out of spite. Therefore, Aonghas has attended many government events, but is rarely seen and rarely carries out activities.
