Project Belle is a semi-covert Kerlian program which aims to "rescue" women from countries classified as Dangerous by the Kerlian Women's Safety Index. Project Belle currently operates in five nations: Opthelia, Iskiram, Zargothrax, Mallacaland and Lao Sansong. The program is jointly administered by the Kerlian Intelligence Service and the Kerlian Women's Liberation Army. The program targets countries which have emigration bans or otherwise restricts the emigration of women, in order to "rescue" women from their governments. Individuals "rescued" by the program are invited to claim asylum in Kerlile.
Methodology[edit | edit source]
While exact methods both vary by target country, and are kept secret, the general method is as follows. Kerlian agents who work for the program will enter the target country either legally or covertly, depending on immigration laws. They will then seek out women who are unhappy and may wish to leave. The women will be provided with information on how Project Belle can allow them to leave to live lives "free from patriarchy". If a woman later chooses to contact the project agents, she will be assisted in fleeing her country to move to Kerlile. This assistance may range from financial, to smuggling the woman out of her home country.
Controversy[edit | edit source]
Project Belle operates without the permission of the governments of the nations it operates in. Often, agents from the program will face prison time or even execution if caught. There have been allegations that Project Belle is engaging in kidnapping and/or human trafficking. The Project maintains that they only assist women who actively choose to leave. There is also no minimum age for people wishing to gain assistance from the program - Project Belle will help any girl or woman who is deemed "capable of making her own informed decision"; however this is not defined.
