The Roucourtain Civil War is a multi-faction civil war in Roucourt sparked by the separation of several factions, mainly the People's and Nations Defense Squadron (PNDS).
Background
On May 13, 2023; Roucourtian General Secretary Svetlana Leclerc had an alleged mental breakdown due to alleged untreated catatonic schizophrenia[1]. On that day, she ordered the execution of the vast majority of the National Assembly, leading to the GSSG opening fire on Assembly members. Following this incident, conflicting orders were sent to multiple units of the nation's military, which was split into different overlapping divisions in order to prevent any one division challenging the General Secretary.
Timeline
On May 28, 2023, the People's and Nations Defense Squadron announced they were separating from Roucourt[2], and immediately began rounding up members of the National People’s Militia and others deemed 'weak'. Their leader General Dubrevsky Yelisey stated that the territory held by the PNDS was now an independent country.
Foreign involvement
Shortly after the outbreak of hostilities, Haesan successfully negotiated a ceasefire; however this soon broke. On the invitation of the established government, forces from Xiomera entered the country. Ships from Slokais Islands continue to patrol the waters to the south of the country. A deal between the democratic factions and the established government was negotiated by Doatia, prompting the Xiomerans to withdraw from the capital to the platinum mines southwards of there. Later, Doatia began air strikes against the [[PNDS and ARL and sent a number of troops to the nation, prompting concerns from numerous nations.
LIDUN discussion
Shortly after the outbreak of the conflict, the delegation from Lauchenoiria proposed to the League of IDU Nations Security Council that the body should discuss the situation and debate if any involvement was necessary. This discussion is ongoing.
