Reena Patel
Reena Patel (born 19 July 2001) is the niece of Councillor Nirmala Patel of Kerlile and is a member of the Reform Party. She is sixth-in-line to the Patel Family seat on the Council of Kerlile; low enough to be exempt from the requirements of the Education and Upbringing of Daughters of the Council Act (1956). At the age of 15, she was arrested for attending an anti-torture protest and spent six months in prison. When she was 18, Reena appeared on Pyramid of Misfortune, a game show in Xiomera. Her mother is Yamunda Patel, a staunch gynarchist who has been implicated in several torture scandals - including one where she allegedly tortured Reena herself following her arrest at 15.
Early life
Reena Patel was born in July 2001 to Yamunda Patel, the second daughter of Anita Patel. She was Yamunda's first daughter. Six years later in 2007, her sister Anika was born. Reena was sent to the Maytown Academy for Girls at the earliest possible age of three, so her mother could return to work in the Restricted Region.
Anti-torture protest and imprisonment
In February 2017, when Reena was 15, she attended an anti-torture demonstration in Grapevale where she was arrested alongside 314 other protesters after they refused to disperse. She was sentenced to six months in a juvenile detention centre; while the other protesters sentences ranged from being sent to an Alternative Education Centre to fourteen years in prison. After her release, she was pictured with an excessive number of bruises, leading her mother to be accused of torturing her daughter. Yamunda was never charged with the crime.
Pyramid of Misfortune
In August 2019, shortly after turning 18, Reena appeared on the Xiomeran game show Pyramid of Misfortune. She stated to the camera when asked why: "I will be called reckless for doing this by my family and you know what? I kind of am. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I want to show the world that Kerlians, and especially one from my family, can be reckless and fun. I'm doing this to show that I'm capable of more than just being a meek, obedient daughter - something my country, given its founding principles, should support."[1] Patel came second in her round.
Reform Party
Reena was a founding member of the Reform Party and has been involved in trying to set up a youth wing since 2020. Her mother and aunt have both condemned her involvement with the reformists, calling her a "naive fool" and threatening to disown her: which is impossible under Kerlian law.
