Maximusian Public Charter Universities are Maximusian institutions of tertiary education created by the 1967 Public Universities Charter. The universities were established via land grant to expand opportunities for higher learning to rural provinces and less wealthy regions of the nation. Today, 19 public universities exist within the system and receive substantial federal and province-level endowments each year. By design, Public Charter Universities (abbreviated; PCUs) are inexpensive (compared to private Maximusian colleges), have a large student body, and place a heavy focus on research. PCUs are not the only public universities in the nation, but receive the most federal funding and are among the largest Maximusian education institutions.
