Sanctions and Controversies
National Team rankings
Lao Sansong
Lao Sansong is currently the only nation fully sanctioned by UHFA.  After a period of reform in the late 2000s and early 2010s after the death of Tokunaga Abo, backsliding in Lao Sansong and an increase in vigilante murders led UHFA to present a warning to the All Sansong Football Association about potential action if trends did not reverse or the government did not fully illegalize murder.  On July 16, 2018, UHFA banned Lao Sansong's national team from participating in UHFA competitions.  Two days later on July 18, UHFA banned Sansongian clubs from participating in UHFA competitions as well.  This ruling is unlikely to be reversed any time soon, and UHFA has released further affirmations of its prior decisions most recently in April 2023 after Lao Sansong once again closed its borders.

Controversial Incidents
Kerlile
Due to potential security risks, UHFA has historically ruled that all home games for the Kerlian men's national team as well as any Kerlian men's club teams in UHFA competition be played at neutral sites.  The rule, which had been in force since 2020 when Kerlile first allowed men's teams to play in UHFA competitions, was lifted in the summer of 2024 after discussions between UHFA and the Kerlian government following Grapevale Athletic's surprise appearance in the tournament's group stage the previous season.

Executive Committee
Haesanite Bribery Scandal
President
On March 8, 2009, UHFA launched an investigation into the Haesanite Football Association due to potential bribery and manipulation of UHFA rankings.  UHFA released a report on August 11, 2010 which showed evidence that Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Han Seung-ju had organized payments to staff at UHFA's Logistics and Analysis Department in Seowon, Haesan in order to manipulate UHFA coefficient calculations and earn Haesan more spots in UHFA competitions.  UHFA subsequently passed down a ruling banning all Haesanite clubs from UHFA competitions for a period of three years.  However, the Choi Da-yeon government was compliant with UHFA requests and on August 12 fired nearly all of the staff of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and started an internal investigation into the incident.  Due to Haesan's general compliance and willingness to make amends, the ban was later shortened to one year and Haesanite clubs were allowed to participate in UHFA competitions during the 2011-12 season.

Sibu Stadium Disaster
On October 18, 2014, a concrete pillar in the west stand of Sibu Stadium in Sibu, Pharitaya collapsed during a Continental Cup qualifying match against Misumi.  Reports showed that the sold out stadium due to the rivalry match contributed to an inordinate amount of weight on the column, and shoddy workmanship by contractors meant that the stand could not support the increased load.  A quick response by emergency services saved many lives, but 104 people died and another 450 were injured in the collapse, mostly Pharitayan citizens.  In response, UHFA indefinitely moved all matches to be held in Pharitaya to neutral sites, launched an inspection of all Pharitayan host stadiums, and initiated an investigation into the Pharitayan Football Association.  After continued efforts by authorities to block the investigations, UHFA finally released their ruling on February 4, 2017 that found that Pharitayan stadiums were largely safe and that the Pharityan association had no prior knowledge of the structural weakness.  The next day, UHFA lifted the ban on Pharitayan home games.  The stadium disaster was the impetus for the launch of the "Sporting Hub Pharitaya" initiative, a national plan to revitalize the nation's sporting infrastructure and make the nation's sports scene internationally competitive.

Sanctions and Controversies[edit | edit source]

Lao Sansong[edit | edit source]

Kerlile[edit | edit source]

Due to potential security risks, UHFA has historically ruled that all home games for the Kerlian men's national team as well as any Kerlian men's club teams in UHFA competition be played at neutral sites. The rule, which had been in force since 2020 when Kerlile first allowed men's teams to play in UHFA competitions, was lifted in the summer of 2024 after discussions between UHFA and the Kerlian government following Grapevale Athletic's surprise appearance in the tournament's group stage the previous season.

Haesanite Bribery Scandal[edit | edit source]

Sibu Stadium Disaster[edit | edit source]
