Uncle Bob's is a Maximusian carbonated soft drink brand and the nation's best-selling domestically produced non-alcoholic drink. Founded in 1926 as a pseudo-medicinal tonic by pharmacy-owner Franklin Robert "Bob" Alton in Oxbend, Uncle Bob's is now produced and distributed by NBD Consolidated. Uncle Bob's competes with international brands for top-selling carbonated beverage in the nation, and enjoys limited distribution abroad. The brand's bestselling flavor, based on Alton's original 1926 recipe, is marketed as Uncle Bob's Original Tonic, and contains a proprietary blend of botanicals and citrus flavors, particularly grapefruit and orange, as well as sugar and vanilla flavoring. Uncle Bob's sells a number of alternative flavors, including a popular sugar free variety, Uncle Bob's Guilt Free, and an orange cream flavor called Uncle Bob's Summer Tonic. In 2009, Uncle Bob's released a series of malt-based alcoholic varieties of their original soda. Originally intended as a limited release novelty product, the beverages proved extremely popular, particularly among young drinkers, for their sweet taste and eye-watering 8.9% ABV.
