On the Abolition of Aristocracy and the Self Determination of the People in the Iustitian Republic, simplified to On Aristocracy, is a 1833 work of political theory by Michael Chaucer, a Iustitian revolutionary leader and political theorist. On Aristocracy was originally published within the spring edition of "The Democrat," an underground newspaper loosely affiliated with the banned Partia Democratica, criticizing the existent Iustitian regime and advocating for revolutionary change, the establishment of a codified constitution, and universal male suffrage. Chaucer's article drew attention to what he viewed as a growing rift between the small mercantile-aristocratic class and the disenfranchised common men of his time, concluding that the time for reconciliation between the two social orders had passed. On Aristocracy is considered one of the foundational works of the modern Maximusian Commonwealth and elevated Chaucer from a rabble-rouser with a pen to one of the most cherished figures alive in Iustitia following the Iustitian Civil War.
