Namhae Province (Korean: 남해도; Namhae-do), also referred to as the Southern Coast is the third most populous province of Haesan. As the moniker implies, it is located in the south of Haesan with a long, highly developed coastline located on inlets, bays, and gulfs off of the Albarine Sea. The centrally located province borders five others: Suyang to the west, Sugang and Eungang to the north, Yeongnam to the east, and a small riparian border with Imyu to the southeast. The Bridgeport Straits separate the province from the Northern Maritimes, and Namhae serves as the main crossing point from the mainland to the maritime islands. Namhae boasts a diverse economy, driven by manufacturing around its capital of Anmi, but with a large presence in information technology and tourism. Several Namhaean cities, including Yeocheon, its second largest, have been declared Special Economic Zones. Tourist cities, especially Munseong, benefit from extensive public transit options, notably the Southern Express Line (SEL), but also large metropolitan railway systems in Anmi, Yeocheon, and the greater Suyang area.
