The Mallancaland Civil War is an ongoing internal conflict in Mallancaland in Eastern Hesperida. The conflict is primarily between the central government and various factions although multiple factions have declared themselves as the lawful authority of Mallancaland. The civil war has led to the mass migration of Mallcans both internally and in political turmoil.
Background[edit | edit source]
In 2021, nationwide protests sparked the Mallacaland Revolution a period of political instability that led to King Adbin II and King Abdin III] being forced out. The latter was couped by Colonel Nabhir Ahmar who took control of the National Palace and areas of Mallacaland. However, much of the country remained under the control of forces either loyal to King Abdin II and the Mallacaland Rising Movement or those loyal to King Abdin III. At this time the Jariza Island Emirate was established by forces loyal to Colonel Ahmar.
Timeline[edit | edit source]
Creation of the Republic of Mallacaland[edit | edit source]
On February 15th, 2021, protesters and forces loyal to King Abdin II captured the National Palace and forced the Royal Guard out of Mallacaland City. King Abdin II declared himself king, meanwhile forces loyal to King Abdin III attacked the SIS Victoria City in Mallacaland Harbor, prompting Slokais Islands to declare war on forces loyal to the boy-king. On February 16th, 2021, the Slokasian Air Force destroyed the Jamzara Airfield being used by the Jamzara Warriors, a militant group loyal to the Nabhir Ahmar Faction. Meanwhile, King Abdin III fled the country, briefly living in Xiomera and Lao Sansong. On March 1st, 2021, the Republic of Mallancaland was declared, in response forces loyal to King Abdin III declared themselves the Kingdom of Mallacaland despite conflict in rural areas with the Nabhir Ahmar Faction. The various factions of the Mallacaland Rising movement declared a truce to form the Republic of Mallacaland. Over the next two weeks, a constitution was created and new free and fair elections were planned for June 2021. The resulting constitution created a parliamentary democracy with plans for a full Presidential election in 2023. Until June, the Republic was controlled by 13 members of the transitional council.
April 2021 to July 2021[edit | edit source]
The Republic of Mallancaland struggled to control rural area's leading to the continued control of the Kingdom of Mallacaland forces. In April, Republic forces captured Asnara from royalist forces as they pushed along the M-2 Highway. Additionally, the northern border with Aredoa was secured allowing for humanitarian aid to reach Mallancaland by land. This was supported by Slokasian rocket attacks from the SIS Garmus. In May 2021, Sarmana and Raoued were under the control of the central government as the cities had been operated by local warlords.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The war had led to mass migration from Mallacaland to nearby countries such as Slokais Islands, Aredoa and Pharitaya. In 2024, there were estimated to be around 10,000 arrivals per month from Mallacland that were processed by the Slokasian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Economically, the Mallacaland economy has considerably collapsed due to a lack of resources and labor, with Tourism seeing the sharpest decline between 2022 and 2024. The loss of income has created a greater incentive for immigration abroad, with many seeking jobs in low-wage positions such as hospitality abroad and sending money back to their families via cash transfer. One of the largest communities of Mallacans abroad is in Southland, New Liverpool joining an already established Kaijanese community.
International Reaction and Diplomacy[edit | edit source]
Much of the international community has generally supported the Republic of Mallacaland govermeant, with Slokais Islands taking a particular interest as peacekeeping forces were present for the 2021 and 2023 Elections via a collaboration with the HPGI. In addition, the Republic of Mallacaland has received tactical support from the Slokasian military as well as several pieces of anti-missile battery used to protect major population centers from missile attacks. Several sources have also alleged that several socialist-aligned units in 2021 received arms from Milintica due to models of commonly used Milintican weapons being spotted during combat. The Republic of Mallacaland has been almost universally accepted as the official government, although several states have released statements in 2023 and 2024, calling for President Azim Shahid to re-open parliament and allow for Prime Minister Ibrahim Kamza to return.
The Kingdom of Mallacaland lost much of its international recognition when the Transitional Govermeant took effect, although supporters of the Kingdom have been spotted abroad allegedly raising funds for the regime. Currently, the Kingdom is being supplied with arms by several Sansongian weapons companies including United Arms CO. In 2023, the Kingdom received several surface-to-air missiles from an unknown source which have been used in combat on civilian targets.
