The Illien Reef War was a naval conflict between the Kingdom of Valahandia and its colony, Iustitia. In response to heavy import tariffs imposed on the colony by Valahandia, Iustitian noblemen covertly chartered a number of privateer ships to begin seizing Valahandian merchant vessels in 1669. This went on for several years, before Valahandia was able to identify the conspiracy and dispatch a fleet of their own to hunt down the privateers in 1674. The Valahandian fleet decimated the privateer vessels and the noble conspirators were executed for treason against the crown.
