Department of Rehabilitative Education
The Department of Rehabilitative Education (DoRE) is a government agency in Kerlile tasked with reducing Anti-Matriarchal Activity and other forms of anti-government dissent. The department is responsible for running Alternative Education Centres, along with running classes on patriotism for citizens who have not yet been detained, but who are considered "at-risk" of dissent.
History[edit | edit source]
The DoRE was first set up in 1973 to eradicate anti-government sentiment within Kerlile. The first Alternative Education Centre was set up in 1977 for female Kerlian citizens who expressed sentiments of female inferiority or other 'patriarchal beliefs', but who did not appear to be politically motivated by these beliefs. Prior to the creation of the Alt-Ed centres, women found to hold these beliefs were sent to standard prisons.
In 1981, the Department began running classes in a number of subjects related to pro-Kerlian sentiments and patriotism. Individuals could be referred to these classes by police and other agencies if they were 'at risk' of breaching Anti-Matriarchal Activity laws before they were deemed sufficiently dissenting to be sent to Alt-Ed. It was also possible to take these classes electively, but this was uncommon.
Alternative Education[edit | edit source]
A Kerlian Alternative Education Centre is a type of prison facility in Kerlile where offenders (usually under the age of 25) are given lessons on Kerlian values in order to rehabilitate them into society using a variant of operant conditioning called alternative education.
There are 6 types of Alternative Education Centre - Infant (Male), Juvenile (Male & Female), Young Adult (Male & Female), Adult (Female), although occasionally people outside of the applicable age or gender range will be sentenced to undertake a similar education programme within another facility.
Community Classes[edit | edit source]
The department offers a number of classes for individuals referred, or for people to take electively if there is sufficient space following compulsory referrals.
These include:
- Kerlian Patriotism
- Feminist History
- Ending Patriarchy In The Mind
- Being A Good Citizen
- Recovery From Anti-Matriarchal Activity (for people recently released from Alt-Ed)
