History[edit | edit source]

The Conservative Party of Slokais was founded in 1892, along with the Left Party, though not until the 1920s, did the party gain a nationwide majority. In 1922 David Livingstone won after a string of revolutions and uprisings blamed on the Left. He then passed a bill that changed elections to every 3 or 6 years. During this time the Conservatives began appealing to populist ideals such as healthcare and industrial expansion. He turned the party further right and was assianated in 1936 after many years of opposition. The party lost power for many years, with Howard Reminez of the Left Party winning until 1950 when he retired, then Juan Costa banned the party during the 1950s with many joining the National Reform Party of Slokais. In 1970 the Conservative Party reformed. In the post-war period, the Conservatives rose to power as Howard Xinag, won 3 times due to his support and rebuilding of the country and creation of the modern healthcare state.

During the 1980s, the party moved further to the right, with Brooke Weasley bringing through an area of expansion. This return to Conservative values drew suburban support leading to control during the 1990s. However, by the 2000 elections, they had lost much of their base over frustration over policy. Despite the chaos of that year the Conservatives managed to keep some seats. They would then win the House in 2006, then win in 2009, George Oliver, a business exec was elected on the promise of fixing the nation during the rescission but lost in 2012 to Joseph Zhang. In 2016, George Oliver ran gaining only 24% of the vote, similar results over the next 2 elections, in 2018 and 2020, led to Brooke Weasley winning the nomination over Oliver, this shift back towards a more Conservative stance has increased Conservative turnout.

Policy[edit | edit source]

The modern Conservative Party has tried to re-focus a populist appeal with frustration on the right over the economy and overall lack of industry in rural areas. It has also grown its appeal to suburban voters, by promoting a policy of lower taxes on the middle-class as well as more funding for rail and highways. It has also criticized some climate change regulations in favor of a free-market approach with tax breaks for companies in exchange for a reduction of carbon produced. It has also opposed the legalization of marijuana for all purposes and pushed back on hot-button social issues such as issues of the transgender community and the recognition of indigenous languages.
