Arrivée
Arrivée is a term originating in Laeral to refer to people of French ethnic descent. 23% of Laeralites identify solely as Arrivée, and the plurality of Laeralites who claim Metice (mixed-race) descent have Arrivée roots. The term is a French loan word, literally meaning "the arrived."
Arrivée culture is associated with the practice of Catholicism and the use of the French language. Historically, Arrivée Laeralites constituted an elite class with greater legal and social access to land ownership, education, and positions in government, due to racial discrimination against Rén and Metice Laeralites. Today, although substantial variations exist, on average Arrivée Laeralites are more likely to attend university and are more likely to hold generational wealth than other racial groups.
Kolda is also home to a substantial Arrivée settler population, concentrated in the Brissiac Region.
