The 2024 Koldan Presidential Election was the ninth presidential election in the history of Kolda. It occurred on November 20th, 2024. Edouard Senghor won his 4th term in office with a plurality of 41.08%, the lowest of all his pervious victories, in addition the DAP had the best electoral performance of an opposition party in Koldan history with Jissel Baoul receiving 37.89% of the vote.
The 2024 Election was held with two concurrent elections for Parliament and for President. All voters were given at least two ballots, one for President and one which included the necessary elections for Parliament. 12.2 million people were registered to vote automatically, all though only 8 million actually cast ballots. This was due to a combination of lower turnout and issues with invalid ballots which prompted international backlash. Voters marked there choice with a stamp for each race.
All citizen's of 18 years of age were automatically registered although to renew and prove identity they had to arrive to a designated location with a citizen ID card or proof of land ownership. All ballots were physically mailed to various voting centers of which at least one was required in each department. Voting began at 8 am and ended at 7 pm, where only then could ballot boxes be opened and tabulations began. Results were then recorded through the Ministry of State Affairs and then shared with the media. Voters could also vote by mail, but only if it arrived for processing before 7pm on November 20th.
