The High Court (Latin: Duodedecimviri) is the summary court for cases of constitutional, criminal, and civil legal jurisdiction in Libertas Omnium Maximus. As the court of last resort, the High Court has the responsibility to provide decisive appellate review of decisions by lower courts and set legal precedent. Lower courts are expected to follow the interpretive frameworks established by the High Court in subsequent cases of a similar nature. Only the High Court may vacate or overturn its own rulings, and is the only court that initially hears disputes between provinces, or between the federal government and one or more of the provinces. The court also has the ability to strike down unconstitutional legislation or bar bills from passing that it deems to be in violation of the Maximusian Constitution. The High Court consists of twelve judges, appointed for life.
