Chloe Conde (born 19 June 1987) was a Kerlian military officer with the rank of Colonel during the Second Lauchenoirian Civil War, who was later convicted of war crimes for her actions in Usera.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Conde was born in a small village in the Iletina Region of Kerlile to parents who were farmers. She attended the local school, and when she was 18, began her national service in the Kerlian military. After completing her two years, Conde enrolled in an officer training school to become a career military officer.
Early military career[edit | edit source]
Most of Conde's early military career was comprised of assisting the Kerlian Border Patrol with operations to prevent dissidents fleeing across the border to Lauchenoiria, Greater Acadia or Zongongia. She showed an aptitude for strategy, and for covert operations. It is unknown what other covert operations she may have engaged in prior to the SLCW.
Second Lauchenoirian Civil War[edit | edit source]
Conde was one among a number of Kerlians sent to Lauchenoiria at the very beginning of the war. She was one of a select few told the true identity of Sonja Viratnen-Alvarez, and instructed to return her to Kerlile. This was Conde's primary mission while in Lauchenoiria, although she also played a role in a number of battles, strategy sessions, and other covert plots throughout the conflict.
Battle of Summersea[edit | edit source]
During the Battle of Summersea, Conde was one of several Kerlian commanders spread throughout the city of Summersea to defend it against the arriving forces of the Coalition to Liberate Lauchenoiria, who had managed to get ships into the port of the city. Alongside forces from both Gonhog and the Lauchenoirian Junta, Conde was among Kerlians working directly with General Eduardo Sanchez to formulate strategy. However, when it appeared clear that their forces would lose the battle, Sanchez abandoned the Lauchenoirian military base in the area, leaving Conde in charge of Kerlian forces in the north of the city.
Usera[edit | edit source]
After Kerlile captured and occupied the city of Usera, Conde captured Jennifer Hale and Josephine Alvarez. She gave orders to take a number of prisoners of war to Kerlile against their will; while she herself flew back to Kerlile early with Hale and Alvarez as her prisoners. She left Amanda Littlewood in charge of the city in her absence.
War crimes conviction[edit | edit source]
During the Kerlian occupation of Usera, Conde was left in charge while her superiors remained in Yerville. Under her command, the Kerlians executed a number of prisoners of war, denied medical attention to the wounded, and summarily executed anyone who insulted Kerlile. She pled guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 25 years in a Sanctarian prison by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission set up by the Haven Accords.
