The People's Party is a political party in Aredoa. The party was formed in May 2009 as a grassroots movement of political and student activists, with the emerging phenomenon of social media playing a key role in the party's initial rise to prominence. After first entering the National Assembly in the 2009 General Election, the party won over 30 seats in the 2014 election and entered the broad left coalition government led by the Workers' Party. The People's Party then won 62 seats in 2019 and has remained in government. The party is led by Adelaida Sanzano, who serves as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Defense.
