The Kerlian Women's Safety Index (KWSI) is a ratings system used in Kerlile to assess the physical and psychological safety of women in different states. It collates a number of different statistics together to assign each state a numerical rating and a description of the quality of life to be expected by women living in or visiting said state.

Development

Categories

Excellent: nations in this category will have full equal rights for women (or greater rights for women), women will be treated with respect and culturally women will be accepted as fully equal.

Good: nations in this category will have full equal rights for women, which will be fully enforced, but there still may be cultural differences in gender treatment.

Fair: women in these nations will have full equal rights in law, but these laws may not be adequately enforced.

Poor: women in these countries may or may not have full equal rights, but these are not enforced and culturally women are viewed as inferior and often subjected to discriminatory treatment.

Bad: women in these countries do not have full equal rights and are treated as inferior, but in ways that do not affect the day-to-day life of most women.

Dangerous: women in these countries do not have equal rights, are viewed as culturally inferior and are discriminated against in a way that is noticeable day-to-day.

Criteria

Criteria used in the classification of countries in the KWSI include the gender balance in legislative bodies, judicial bodies and on company boards, alongside the gender of current & past leaders. Crime rates are also considered, especially sexual assault rates, domestic abuse rates and the conviction rates for these crimes. Religious demographics are taken into account, particularly the numbers of residents who practice religions banned in Kerlile for being 'patriarchal'. The Kerlian Women's Safety Board (KWSB) who administer the KWSI also carry out surveys on attitudes towards women or use existing surveys. They also send employees to various countries to carry out investigations and assessments. Finally, the legal status of women in the state, and relevant policies of the current government, are considered.
