Born April 19th 1959 in Ramada Bank, San Fernando to a family of academics, his father was a professor of Minjian Studies, while his mother was a well-known poet. Growing up he saw the country descend into Cvil War, his family fled into the countryside to live with his family who were in charge of a Minjian Temple. At 14 he returned to the city with his family and began to move towards a career is business. In 1981 he graduated from New Liverpool Open Univeristy with a major is business studies and a minor in politcal theory. He then started working at a company selling high end apartments, he was a landlord until 1994, when he ran in a special election and won. He joined what was then the Center Party and began a rise to power, in 2006 he became leader of the party and in 2008 ran unsucessfully for President, he tried again in 2012, this time winning in two-rounds. During his term in office he began social reforms and was somewhat well liked, however in 2016, the party has a contested convention and he lost to Chavez who then won before leaving to start he own party in 2017.
