The Special Reconnaissance Force (SRF) is a special forces regiment of the Maximusian Army trained to carry out covert reconnaissance, small-scale raids, sabotage, and counter-terrorist operations in wartime. Active since the Great War, the SRF is considered one of the most elite regiments in the Maximusian armed forces and gained considerable recognition for their brutal efficiency while deployed in Bjeorg in 1991.
History
Structure
The Special Reconnaissance Force is organized into five battalions: I, II, III, IV, and V. Of these, SRF-III is designated for hostage rescue and asset extraction, while the other four battalions are more broadly tasked with direct action and unconventional warfare operations. All five groups are beholden to the Army Office of Special Operations (OSO) and share common recruitment and training processes. SRF is known for its extremely strict eligibility requirements, with the highest physical standards in the Maximusian Army and requiring intellectual and psychological evaluations prior to recruitment.
Controversy
In 2019, the Second Lauchenoirian Civil War Truth and Reconciliation Commission cited the Maximusian Special Reconnaissance Force present during the Second Battle of Carville with deliberately slaying medical officers, endangering civilians, and using excessive force during the assault. SRF has denied these allegations vehemently, maintaining that the only medical officials who died in the fighting were armed combat medics actively resisting the Maximusian assault, which does not constitute a war crime. SRF did not deny their use of mortar launchers during the assault.
