The Church of the Goddess is a religious institution in the Matriarchy of Kerlile. It is the primary faith of Kerlile, and the faith of Councillor Natalia Hart. The religion was founded in 1927 as a variant on Secadualism, a Western Hespian religion uncommon in the modern world.
Worshippers of the Goddess believe that a divine event took place in the 1910s, altering the divine order and allowing the Goddess to become victorious over an evil male deity She had been fighting since the dawn of time. This led to mortal women being freed from divine tyranny and able to create the state of Kerlile.
In the Church's parent religion, Secadualism, two deities, commonly personified as a male and female, are at eternal war, and our world is their divine battleground. Disasters on earth are a result of these divine battles, in which demigods fight on behalf of their two commanders. The war will last until the Victory, when humans will be ushered into a new world. Unlike Secadualists, members of the Church of the Goddess believe the Victory has already happened.
