The Progressive Party Schism was a political event that happened in 1957 after the break-in, and wiretapping of both the Communist Party, and the Democratic Alliance. Several high ranking political officials were impeached, and arrested, including the president of Boemont, Yves Séraphin, and the President of Mariso, Filomena Ambra. The resulting collapse of the Progressive Party lead to the communist achieving victory in almost every presidential race at the time, resulting in restructuring of the government into the United Socialist Districts of Wosteaque.
Background[edit | edit source]
The Mariso Intelligence Agency director, Amanda Raquel-Valeria had suggested to Filomena Ambra that the Triángulo de oro bombings was partly perpetrated by the Communist-Anarchist Militia of Southern Mariso after several members were arrested in a raid on the National Liberation for Mariso's southern headquarters. The resulting forced confessions from the CAMSM caused the MIA to begin spying on communist officials, and politicians with the supposed intent to stop future terrorist attacks, but it was actually used to spy on political opponents to receive critical information, and black mail. In about two months the MIA went from spying on a small selection of southern communist, to both the Communist Party, and the Democratic Alliance.
Wiretapping[edit | edit source]
On July 4, 1956 MIA agents, Musa Anselmo, and Narciso Glauco broke into the Communist Assembly of Mariso with the intent to wiretap, as well as collect black mail of communist politicians if any should discover the plot. The agents used approximately one hundred microphone to cover almost every room in the assembly.
