Gabriel Fleming is a former Lauchenoirian intelligence agent who was arrested for treason in 2020. He later escaped from prison, and is rumoured to now work for Xiomera. He is believed to have ties to Chaherian groups across Lauchenoiria. The group that kidnapped Olivia Pierre demanded his release in exchange for her life.

Great Selection interference

In 2019 following the death of Emperor Topilpopoca of Xiomera, Fleming took the lead on a Lauchenoirian operation to influence the Great Selection in favour of Cozamalotl using disinformation and rumour[1]. The details of this operation were leaked to press in 2023[2]. Among the falsehoods spread during the operation was a rumour that Yauhmi, the wife of Topilpopoca who went on to win the Great Selection, had cheated on her husband.

In retaliation for the rumour, following the discovery that Lauchenoiria had been behind it, Yauhmi ordered a cyberattack on Lauchenoirian transport infrastructure[3] which caused traffic light faults in Buttercity for a brief period of time. This incident was covered up by both sides, with the incident being attributed to "ageing equipment"[4], before being leaked in 2023.

Aurora hunt

Following revelations about the existence of a covert sleeper agent program from Kerlile called the Aurora Programme, Fleming disobeyed a direct order from Prime Minister Josephine Alvarez and began detaining suspected members of the program in disused Communist-era black sites[5]. He was arrested in early 2020 for his actions in this, which included the systematic mistreatment of prisoners[6].

Imprisonment and escape

Fleming was charged with treason for his actions regarding the Aurora hunt, and was imprisoned. A group of other intelligence agents loyal to Fleming attempted to secure his release by taking Olivia Pierre, Xia Chiu and Jia Chiu of Kerlile hostage and threatening to kill them unless Fleming was released[7]. An operation to rescue the trio was launched and the hostage attempt failed. However, Fleming later escaped from prison using other means[8].

Defection to Xiomera

After his escape from prison, Gabriel Fleming vanished, only to resurface later in Xiomera, having begun to work for Empress Calhualyana. It is believed he is still involved in anti-Lauchenoiria operations for the Xiomeran state, specialising in the spreading of disinformation and the manipulation of public discourse[9]. The 2023 leaks of the Alvarez-Yauhmi dispute are generally accredited to Fleming, though this has not been proven. He remains wanted for treason in Lauchenoiria.
