The Xiomeran Imperial Navy (XIN) is the naval warfare force of Xiomera. It is part of the Xiomeran Imperial Armed Forces, and falls under the authority of the Empress and Minister of Defense.
Composition
The Imperial Navy consists of four Home Fleets and an Expeditionary Fleet that rotates station between the various Xiomeran colonies and the mainland. There is also a training fleet for the Imperial Naval Academy, and a reserve fleet that consists of mothballed Xiomeran warships which are kept ready to call into service in the event of an emergency. The Imperial Navy also maintains several overseas detachments for training purposes, working with allied fleets, and maintaining a Xiomeran naval presence around the IDU.
The typical Xiomeran fleet consists of the following:
1 Camaxtica-class aircraft carrier (capable of carrying 90 fixed wing aircraft and helicopters)
5 Quicalinē-class attack submarines
5 Xi'ya-class guided/ballistic missile submarines
5 Quiauhticue-class destroyers
5 Tequoxi-class cruisers
5 Atlziqui-class frigates
5 Ix'huit-class corvettes
5 Quipalna-class landing ships
5 Tlachpohual-class amphibious warfare ships
5 Coēmac-class mine warfare ships
5 Tli'chiu-class auxiliary ships (multipurpose ships filling roles such as supply ships, hospital ships, etc.)
Xiomeran warships (with the exception of the reserve fleet) are among the most advanced and powerful in the IDU. Xiomera conducts extensive military research and development (as well as extensive espionage) to make sure their ships are capable of standing up to their peers.
Branches and auxiliaries
The Imperial Marine Corps (Imperial Marines) are the amphibious assault arm of the Xiomeran Navy. Their role as an elite amphibious assault force is to serve as a spearhead during invasions, clearing the way for the Imperial Army to follow with massive force.
The Xiomeran Coast Guard serves as a form of auxiliary fleet for the Imperial Navy, as its vessels tend to be much larger and more heavily armed than the coast guard ships typical of IDU nations. In a similar line, the Xiomeran merchant marine fleet also boasts many armed and armored vessels, which it claims are to deter pirates and protect its merchant shipping but also serve as a light naval force in the event of urgent need.
Expansion
The introduction of the Expeditionary Fleet in 2021 marked the first phase of an ambitious naval expansion plan for the Empire. Known as the "New Empire Navy Program", the program's goal is to double Xiomeran naval strength by the year 2031.
