The Xiomeran Imperial Armed Forces are the military forces of the Xiomeran Empire. They consist of five service branches: the Army, the Navy, the Aerospace Force, the Coast Guard and the Special Forces. The Emperor or Empress of Xiomera (currently Calhualyana) serves as the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. Military policy is formed by the ruler, in cooperation with the Prime Minister of Xiomera and the Ministry of Defense.

The Imperial Armed Forces are one of the largest military forces in the IDU, both by personnel and by equipment. They also constitute the largest portion of the Imperial budget and constitute a 9.4% share of Xiomera's GDP as of 2023. Since taking control of Xiomera in 2020, the government of Empress Calhualyana has steadily increased Xiomeran military spending.

Mission[edit | edit source]

The mission of the Imperial Armed Forces is defined as:

  • Preserving the security, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Xiomeran Empire;
  • Supporting national defense and foreign policy initiatives and objectives;
  • Protecting Imperial trade, commerce and citizens throughout the IDU;
  • Defeating any domestic or foreign entities that endanger the security of the Xiomeran Empire

Structure[edit | edit source]

The chain of command in the Xiomeran military flows from the Empress to the Minister of Defense. The Xiomeran General Staff, consisting of the head of each branch of service, is the senior-most military body in the Armed Forces. The Chief of the General Staff is chosen by the Minister of Defense from the General Staff, and sits on the Imperial Security Council. The Empress, Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Minister of Security and Minister of Loyalty also sit on the Imperial Security Council, which is the chief body advising the Empress on national security, defense and foreign policy.

The Xiomeran military itself is broken down into several commands, each focusing on a specific area of the IDU.

  • Gold Command: focuses on Xiomera, the Huenyan subcontinent and eastern Caxcana. Its headquarters is in Tlālacuetztla at the Empress Camaxtica Military Headquarters Complex.
  • Red Command: focuses on Hesperida and the eastern oceans of the IDU. Its headquarters is at the Henayuco Joint Self-Defense Base south of Grapevale, Kerlile.
  • Blue Command: focuses on Liberalia and the central oceans of the IDU. Its headquarters is in Tlālacuetztla at the Empress Camaxtica Military Headquarters Complex.
  • Green Command: focuses on Neria and the western oceans of the IDU. Its headquarters is at the Tehimec Joint Self-Defense Base in Iskiram.

Branches[edit | edit source]

Xiomeran Imperial Army[edit | edit source]

The Xiomeran Imperial Army is the principal land warfare force of Xiomera.

Personnel[edit | edit source]

The Imperial Army is a volunteer force, although provisions exist to institute a draft in the event of national emergency or war. The full-time component of the Imperial Army numbers 463,803 troops, with an additional ready reserve of 503,110 troops.

Irregular Xiomeran Forces

In the past decade, the Xiomeran military has created two "legions" of irregular forces.

The Patriot Legion is the first of these "irregular" forces created. It was created in 2015, and allows those incarcerated in Xiomeran prisons an opportunity to repay their debt to society through military service.

The International Legion was created in 2019. Its role is to recruit foreigners into the service of the Empire, with special emphasis on recruiting highly skilled individuals with police or military backgrounds. Membership in the International Legion is nominally open to anyone between 18-40 who can pass the extremely tough training and fitness standards of the Legion.

Both Legions consist of 6,000 troops each.

Equipment[edit | edit source]

Xiomeran military equipment is among the best in the IDU, being rigorously developed and tested both in the field and the laboratory. All Xiomeran weapons are domestically produced by national manufacturers.

The Xiomeran Army (as of 2023) had at its disposal:

Xiomeran Imperial Navy[edit | edit source]

The Xiomeran Imperial Navy is the principal naval warfare force of the Empire. It has traditionally been the smallest of the Armed Forces, although that is changing with the implementation of the "New Empire Navy Program" in 2021. The program's goal is to double Xiomeran naval strength by the year 2031.

The Imperial Navy consists of an Expeditionary Fleet that rotates station between the various Xiomeran colonies and the mainland, a Home Fleet responsible for local defense, and four Command Fleets that are assigned to Gold, Blue, Red and Green Command areas. There is also a training fleet for the Imperial Naval Academy, and a reserve fleet that consists of mothballed Xiomeran warships which are kept ready to call into service in the event of an emergency. The Imperial Navy also maintains several overseas detachments for training purposes, working with allied fleets, and maintaining a Xiomeran naval presence around the IDU as well as protecting its colonies abroad. The Imperial Navy is also responsible for shore-based naval defenses, consisting of 290 Tzinali mobile anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBMs), various shore gun emplacements and fortifications

The typical Xiomeran fleet consists of the following:

1 Camaxtica-class aircraft carrier (capable of carrying 90 fixed wing aircraft and helicopters)

5 Quicalinē-class attack submarines

5 Xi'ya-class guided/ballistic missile submarines

5 Quiauhticue-class destroyers

5 Tequoxi-class cruisers

5 Atlziqui-class frigates

5 Ix'huit-class corvettes

5 Quipalna-class landing ships

5 Tlachpohual-class amphibious warfare ships

5 Coēmac-class mine warfare ships

5 Tli'chiu-class auxiliary ships (multipurpose ships filling roles such as supply ships, hospital ships, etc.)

Xiomeran warships (with the exception of the Reserve Fleet) are among the most advanced and powerful in the IDU. Xiomera conducts extensive military research and development (as well as extensive espionage) to make sure their ships are capable of standing up to their peers.

Xiomeran Aerospace Force[edit | edit source]

The Xiomeran Aerospace Force is the principal air and space arm of the Imperial Armed Forces. It is responsible for both atmospheric and space defense. The Aerospace Force is currently mostly an atmospheric force, although it is responsible for the launching and maintenance of Xiomeran military and government satellites. It is also in the final stages of planning a space station to be launched sometime within the next few years.

The Aerospace Force is also responsible for the Strategic Missile Corps, Xiomera's base of conventional and nuclear missiles. The Strategic Missile Corps maintains a stockpile of 3,708 nuclear warheads and a classified number of ICBMs with a maximum range of 18,000 km (11,000 mi).

Xiomeran Coast Guard[edit | edit source]

The Xiomeran Coast Guard is responsible for maritime security, search and rescue, and law enforcement in Xiomeran waters. It also routinely patrols in nearby international waters. It has a total personnel number of 85,000 and maintains a force of 250 cutters and 1,600 smaller vessels. The Coast Guard also operates 200 aircraft of various types.

Xiomeran Special Forces[edit | edit source]

The Xiomeran Special Forces are the command that manages the two divisions of Xiomeran special operations forces. Their mission is to train and equip forces capable of conducting special operations anywhere in the IDU. Their focus is on unconventional warfare, counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism, special reconnaisance, direct action and foreign internal defense of Xiomeran allies.

The Warriors of Tezcatlipōca are the first branch of the Imperial Special Forces. Named for the Huenyan "invisible god" representing "the silent night winds, and thunderous war", this branch of the Special Forces takes after their namesake Tezcatlipōca by utilizing stealth and secrecy to deliver unexpected and shattering blows to the enemies of the Empire.

The Warriors of Huītzilōpōchtli are the second branch of the Imperial Special Forces. They take their name from the patron god of the Xiomerans, the god of the sun and of war. Unlike their counterparts in the Warriors of Tezcatlipōca, the Warriors of Huītzilōpōchtli are always clearly out in the open, first into battle when the Empire goes to war. Never hiding or shrinking from a fight, they are the embodiment of Xiomeran martial spirit and power.
