Upon birth into the Imperial Household, an Imperial baby is issued a Lordship extending over various provinces within the Empire, thereby granting the child the status of high nobility. Invariably, the firstborn child of the reigning Emperor or Empress will be granted a First Lordship - the highest title before that of the Emperor or Empress themselves - while each of their subsequent children will instead be issued a Second Lordship.
