The Conservative Party is the fourth largest party in Lauchenoiria, and the most economically right-wing mainstream party. They are also the most socially conservative of the mainstream parties, and tend to be supported by older people who were opposed to the 1952 Communist regime.

The party is economically right-wing and socially conservative. They are currently led by Thomas Averforth, a wealthy businessman who spent the civil war out of the country.

Policies[edit | edit source]

Social Issues[edit | edit source]

They want to privatise the health service, introduce a multi-payer scheme, allow any private schools that wish to set up and bring back grammar schools. They believe any social policy which damages the economy, such as mandating businesses to renovate to make buildings accessible, should not be allowed.

Economic Issues[edit | edit source]

They want to massively slash government spending in order to eliminate the deficit as soon as possible. They also want to hasten the post-referendum transition; privatising the vast majority of state-owned industries within a single year. The party supports complete privatisation of state industry; unlike more moderate "capitalist" parties; for whom capitalism is merely shorthand for supporting the legal right of private enterprise to exist at all.

Security Issues[edit | edit source]

They want to permit gun ownership with background checks, increase military spending somewhat to defend against Kerlile and other countries that would threaten democracy, and believe surveillance powers must increase so those who would subvert Lauchenoirian democracy are caught and their plans prevented, including surveillance on politicians.

International Issues[edit | edit source]

They want to increase trade with other countries, get rid of regulations that hamper trade, seek out free trade deals, discourage immigration, allow emigration. They believe immigrants are destroying the economy, and that post-war emigration should not be hampered.

Constitutional Issues[edit | edit source]

During the post-war constitutional discussion, the party supported enshrining the right of private for-profit enterprise to exist into the constitution. The party also supported a semi-presidential system, rather than the parliamentary system that presently exists where the president is predominantly a figurehead.
