The '''Chancellor of Libertas Omnium Maximus''' is the head of legislature for the [[Maximusian Republic]]. The Chancellorship is considered to hold the second most authority of any role in Maximusian government, behind only the [[President of Libertas Omnium Maximus|President]]. Presiding over the [[Senate of Libertas Omnium Maximus|General Assembly]], the Chancellor sets the legislative agenda and refers passed legislative initiatives to the [[Senate of Libertas Omnium Maximus|Provincial Council]] for review. The Chancellor, by the General Assembly via majority vote, must be a sitting member of the General Assembly, and holds the Chancellorship concurrently with his or her elected seat. As a result, Chancellors generally come from the majority party or coalition, though this does not have to be the case. The Chancellor can be dismissed at any time through a motion-of-no-confidence. Today, the Chancellorship is occupied by [[Progressive Citizens' Party (Maximusian)|Progressive]] [[Edward Banks]], who replaced Joe Waylon in 2020 after Progressives stripped the [[National Conservative Party (Maximusian)|Conservatives]] of their plurality earlier that year.
