New Map Discussion

Can we please get a current link without recent changes of whichever version of Dom's amp we are starting from. I'm finding it difficult to visualize what we speaking of other than my copies of maps and my Paint-edited submaps of the schnauzerlands that I have saved.

LegionasAug 12 2017, 09:19:58 PMWhere is the actual map so that I can make sense of whats going on
The map as last updated, years ago, is at https://app.box.com/shared/fqplfsbso0 .
You can presume that most of the inactive nations' territories were vacated, apart from Mikitivity (due to its role in the histories of both the Schnauzers and the Bears) and any others that Grossechnauzer told Vexam -- who's creating an updated version, last I heard -- to leave in place for historical reasons.
I think that all of the newer claims (by nations that still exist) are mentioned in this thread here.

You mentioned in the RMB that you want lands in the eastern end of the former Keeslandia? As far as I know, that should be okay as only the former Keelsandic lands west of the river that flows northwards out of the Bears' lands have already been claimed.

:Bear:
That is alright with me but if the islands to the east are not taken could I get the island closest to my territory {Klouch and the unclaimed Island nearest to me} and also could I get Antrium's three states namely Kostatero,Lakiteo and Norato

And when will the finished map be shown

Just wanted to jump in and say if I could keep the same shape and size etc of my nation from Embo's map, I'd appreciate it, as my canon RP and stuff depend on it. Where you put it, I don't care, but it should have the same access to sea etc.

Sanctaria is currently in Europeia, but I'll be moving it back to the IDU in the next couple of days.

Big request I know, especially when I've been gone 18 months, but I have done a lot for the region...

I was speaking to BA and this is what we're going with.

If it's easier for the cartographer for me to take all of Saidercay, that's fine too. I was trying to not be too greedy heh

If its a different map we are using,Sanctaria, could you send a link to the full map

Libertas Omnium MaximusAug 15 2017, 06:47:11 PMCan my country be between data genius and sidercay, and Shnauzer states?
Grosseschnauzer already requested some more lands for a couple of his newest 'Schnauzer' puppets, and that might have been in this area as he already has lands adjacent to it.
How about parts of southern DataGenesis and the area between there & Groot Gouda, instead?

#63

Due to my needing to update my Wiki pages etc for RPing, and also because I wanted to get this cemented to continue in my canon, I went ahead and added myself into the map. It's not perfect, but it'll do until the cartographer gets around to it.

So, if I understood Bears Armed correctly (he sent a TG on NS), there are several nations of the map which don't exist anymore?

Would anyone mind filling me in on what nations are no longer existing?

This is what I suggested to Oerstland:

?Hrarroom!? (= ?Greetings?),

I see that you've registered on our regional forum, but haven't yet posted in the Map Discussion thread: That's at http://s10.zetaboards.com/IDU/topic/7548155/1/ , and you can find an old copy of the map at https://app.box.com/shared/fqplfsbso0 although unfortunately it?s a few years out of date? Lands assigned to nations that no longer exist have mostly been freed-up for new owners, as described in the thread.
The place that I?d suggest for your nation, given that you wanted some arctic [or at least sub-arctic] land if possible, is within the former nations ? situated just north of Bears Armed?s main section ? that?s labelled Keeslandia. The climate there should be cool-temperate on the basis of its latitude, but the previous owner described it as cold enough to have polar bears along its coast: It?s been decided that there?s a cold climate flowing southwards into the ?Alyeskan Sea?, and probably a mountain range separating that section of coast from the milder areas along the Bears? border.
Some parts of [what was] Keeslaandia have already been claimed: There are two nations west of the major river that flows north from close to the Bears? lands into the sea, the Bears? frontier has been pushed slightly further north to incorporate the triangle of land where the old line cut across between that river?s two main sources and also to bring the boundary up to one of those source-rivers a little bit further east from the triangle where there was previously a tiny extension of Keeslandic territory south of the river, and at least part of the north-eastern peninsula is also taken (probably with an extension south-westwards to & along the border of [the former nation of] Antrium, parts of whose northern provinces might end up in the same new nation as that), but everything in between ? an area roughly the same size as the lands west of the river ? is available for you. Adding some parts of Amidonia or Frontenax [or even of both!] should probably be possible, too, if you want.

So, as it doesn't look like a new map will be finished anytime soon, and as you are the map/climate expert- where do you think Laeral should be? We have a water border to the east of us, and the climate is described as follows: "Laeral has a climate similar to Northern Europe, with cold winters and temperate summers. Northern provinces are much colder, while southern provinces are more temperate. There are no desert regions in Laeral, as Laeral's close sea access and lack of mountains to create a rain-shadow effect. However, many areas of inland Laeral are too dry for some crops, although the area known as the 'Riverlands' (areas around the River Laer) is extremely fertile. Some areas are very rainy, such as Aumont or Laeralsford (which each rain roughly one day in three). In most provinces, it snows several times per year. In some provinces, such as Etrange, there is often snow on the ground for 4 months a year. Rivers are the lifeblood of Laeral, and rivers such as the Laeral, Massouc, and Rellis often flow through major cities. These rivers also support a thriving fishing industry, as well as habitat for spawning trout and salmon. Laeral's climate also supports certain forms of agriculture. Rice is grown in many low-lying coastal areas, and fruit is often grown in the interior. This also contributes to Laerla's thriving wine industry. Silk is also grown by way of mulberry trees. As for natural disasters, Laeral most often suffers from floods or hurricanes, while wildfires and tornadoes are comparatively uncommon."

I've also separately described Laeral's climate as being Mild/Continental.

So where do you think Laeral should go for the time being?

Is that still supposed to be with ?High Fells? adjacent/inland?
The area that we already discussed (South Antrium, Fonzoland, and the former Dommonian province of Tomar) might not have snow every winter throughout, just in the mountains along its western edge ? and would be warm temperate more than cool temperate ? but would fit your requirements (and probably be a bit better for the wine & silk production) otherwise. I suggest adding the southernmost states of Antrium proper (i.e. Soreto, and Alves Navlan) to that, as well, with High Fells (which I think you said was supposed to be landlocked?) taking up the former Antrian states of Veo and Norato).

__________________________________________________________________________

Legionas: You requested the former Antrian states of Kostatero, Lakiteo, and Noratao, as well as the eastern peninsula of Keeslandia plus Klouch and the nearest un-named island. If Laeral wants to assign Norato to High Fells, as discussed above, would you be okay with taking Monvelaro (i.e. the coastal state directly south-east of Kostatero) instead? Or, maybeso, more in the islands?

Is Vexum still interested in being our cartographer? (S)he has been active on Discord, and particularly during the N-Day event, but I've heard nothing about the map.
