I thought today that a good UN proposal would be Advertising Standards, so far I've thought of a few things for this proposal to cover:

1. Banning false advertising
2. On TV, speaking the price of the item instead of having it in fine print, and also speaking side effects of prescription drugs, etc.
3. Possibly making a limit of how small fine print can be so that the average person can read it?

If you can think of more topics this should cover or suggestions about those topics, let me know. Once I know the topics to cover I'll write a draft.

The issue with advertising is that I see that being similar to how the Sex Education Act is turning out ... meaning some nations will feel that domestically they can handle it.

That said, I'm not ruling out the subject, but it would be nice to think of an international issue around advertising. I would think another way to tackle this might be to suggest that products that are marketed towards multiple countries and have different languages should make sure that what is written on one language on the label is the same as the other languages. I know this isn't what you had in mind, but it seems to me that it is *one* way to turn this into a kind of international issue.

On an international scale, I think there is more point in rules about labelling. When is something "fresh" for example? Things like that. And I'd like to have the Groot Gouda cheese protected against so-called "real Gouda cheese" made in other countries.

Great idea. That seems like a better direction for this proposal to go. Possibly turning it into "Labeling Standards"

Another label worth defining would be "organic". "Fresh" will be slightly harder to define, but definitely one to be added.

Another thing worth possibly adding would be requiring that each package have where the product was made...I guess that would solve the Groot Gouda cheese problem

SEEING THAT some companies may label their products incorrectly, this proposal imposes the following:

I. If a product is marketed in one or multiple countries that speak different official languages, all labels on the product must be in all languages spoken, and must all translate to mean the same thing.

II. Defining ?fresh? as ?not stale, sour, or decayed? and ?not altered by processing,? and defining ?organic? as ?food produced with the use of feed or fertilizer of plant or animal origin without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics, or pesticides.? Nothing may be labeled ?fresh? or ?organic? unless it fits the above definition.

III. All packaged products must be labeled with (if applicable) the ingredients of the product, nutrition facts, which should include the amount of fat, trans fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars, sodium, protein, vitamins and minerals, and calories in the product. Also, all packaged products must be labeled with the country where the product was grown/made.

Secondly, in order for your proposal to be successfull, you'll need to telegram a lot of delegates. For previous resolutions the campaign needed to tell about 2-300 delegates for the 140 or so endorsements.

I have (EDIT: 73 ) endorsements now (over half! yay! :waveand it ends tomorrow, so it won't make it. But I didn't telegram anyone (again, out of town) so I made a list of the nations who endorsed it and I will send them a telegram asking for their support again when I re-submit it, and then I will telegram some other nations and I think that after another try or two, it will make it

Yup, I typically send out telegrams in 50 delegate lots and use the Delegate Votes on whatever resolution is on the floor as a "shopping list".
