Gynarchy, and the Unmaking of a Dream: A critical analysis of the differences in ideology between the Founding Mothers of Kerlile and the Present-Day Council is a non-fiction book by Kerlian dissident Tamara Rivers, published in 2006 by undercover dissident publishing group Free Kerlian Press. The book examines the difference between the Founders Manifesto from 1919, and Gynarchy, the present-day ideology of the Council of Kerlile.

Rivers was executed in Kerlile in 2011 for her writing, and Gynarchy, and the Unmaking of a Dream remains banned by the Kerlian Censorship Board, and classed in the most serious category, meaning that possession of a copy is a crime which can in itself lead to the death penalty.

Premise[edit | edit source]

Gynarchy, and the Unmaking of a Dream argues that the ideology of gynarchy directly contradicts the vision of the initial Founding Mothers of Kerlile, and that the Council of Kerlile has betrayed its own origins in a quest for power. Rivers argues that rule by solely women was intended as a temporary measure, and that this is proven in the text of the Founders' Manifesto from the very first line.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The book was published by the Free Kerlian Press, an underground illegal publishing operation in Kerlile. All books published by the Kerlian Free Press are automatically banned in Kerlile, however Gynarchy, and the Unmaking of a Dream prompted a nationwide hunt for the author and a huge crackdown on the organisation which lasted three months and directly led to at least 14 executions. The book has been republished by multiple companies in various foreign nations since, however it remains banned in Kerlile, with possession of a copy deemed a capital offence.

Execution of author[edit | edit source]

Tamara Rivers was arrested two months following the publication of Gynarchy, and the Unmaking of a Dream after being caught attempting to flee Kerlile to Zongongia. She was charged with treason and Class I, II and IV Anti-Matriarchal Activity and was sentenced to five years imprisonment in the Restricted Region followed by execution. She was executed via firing squad in October 2011.
