East Acadia is a province in Slokais Islands home to 658,340 people. East Acadia is a mostly rural province with a large industrial and manufacturing hub of San Luis with a population of 350,000 in its metro area, with the rest of the province being rural mountains and rice fields. It is considerably more Meszito than its surrounding provinces, with it being 56% Meszito.

History[edit | edit source]

Similar to the rest of Acadia Island, East Acadia was primarily home to many native groups such as Langonayan and the Karao'ah who lived primarily in agriculturally rich river valleys. Evidence suggests's the Langonyan have lived in East Acadia as long as 10,000 years ago. As opposed to nearby provinces, East Acadia became a center for Minjian settlement. Pindai for example was built in 1090 around a central temple with surrounding market stalls. These settlers eventually organized into the Pindai State, a monarchal trade kingdom that became a hub for the region and Acadia Island. The Pindai State was one of the first organized kingdoms to make contact with the Costeno Empire in 1567. Their relationship was tense, however, as Pindai officials largely denied Costeno settlements into the region and banned the practice of Catholicism.

Geography[edit | edit source]

East Acadia is located in the eastern half of Acadia Island, bordering North Acadia, South Acadia and Pindai. Much of the province is a rural and mountainous area known as the Heart of Acadia primarily used for mining and known for traditional woodwork pieces. The northern section of the Province, primarily in Santa Cruz Township is defined by small fishing communities and generally foggy weather due to its position against the Bay of Acadia. The southern section of the Province is where much of the population resides in the city of San Luis, a flat area suitable for industrial production and vast farming.

Conservation[edit | edit source]

East Acadia has several national and provincial parks to protect both the natural environment and serve as recreation areas. The largest protected area is Pineland National Park, which protects a region of rare pine trees in an otherwise logged-out region. Further towards the coast is the Hagurah-Ka River National Scenic Area which consists of several provincial and local parks along the Hagurah-Ka River, a formerly polluted now revitalizing river that is sacred to the nearby indigenous community.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The primary industries of East Acadia are the production and extraction of raw materials. Much of the extraction occurs in rural areas such as the Upper Valley, while the actual production of goods occurs in San Luis with many businesses having their corporate offices in the planned suburb of Meltona. This has led to a large economic disparity between the rural areas and San Luis, with internal migration and job opportunities leading to a decreasing rural population. Notable companies based in East Acadia include Corona Camera's and HMR Fashion's. In addition, San Luis is a regional hub for logistics and transportation with the Heart of Acadia Railroad ending in the city, the first high-speed rail built outside of San Fernando Island was completed in 2015 connecting nearby Pindai and San Luis.

Culture[edit | edit source]

East Acadia is known for its traditional Meszito culture, with strong Catholic imagery. Several artists have called the province home including Jose de Pina, who was known for creating many civic and religious murals during the 1920s and 30s. East Acadia is also home to many Spanish-language artists leading to San Luis being a popular location for Spanish-language film, TV, and Music. Additionally, the Heart of Acadia region shared with South Acadia is home to Heartland Music, a simple guitar and vocal-based genre created by the area's early settlers.
