The Battle of Salvador City was a land and sea battle during the Second Slokasian Civil War between Slokais Islands and the Coalation of Democratic Forces in 1963. It was the first large-scale defeat of government forces by a united rebel force. The battle began after rebel forces blocked access to the Salvador Canal when RPI Forces attempted to break the blockade on the SIS Liberation the ship was remotely detonated while docking in Salvador Bay leading to the rapid sinking of the ship.
Background[edit | edit source]
The Salvador Canal was built in 1935 as a bypass of the busy and also bridged San Fernando River. Cutting through mostly marshland and cypress islands, the Canal was mostly flat except for the locks that lowered traffic into Salvador Bay. In 1963, the Canal was used to transport weapons and troops from New Liverpool to the Outer Islands to support federal forces. Militia groups in Salvador City had been growing in strength, leading to the deployment of a permanent garrison headquarters at City Hall.
Course of Battle[edit | edit source]
At around 8:50 am on October 7th, a firebomb was thrown in Salvador City Hall. Although the initial fire didn't kill any of the garrison stationed there, fleeing officers were cut down by snipers in the nearby 1937 Hotel. At the same time, rebels affiliated with the CDF attacked the Salvador Canal Locks, located about 3 miles south of city hall. By 9:30, the Locks were under the control of the CDF who immediately ceased all traffic along the canal. Around 11:30 the SIS Liberation carrying RPI forces entered Lake Salvador about a mile north of the locks.
