Queen Leila I (born 2nd February 2012) is the fourth child and second daughter of King Shapur XIV of Zargothrax. She is one of three living claimants to the throne of Zargothrax, alongside her father and grandfather Navid III. All three claimants presently control some territory in the ongoing Thraxian Civil War.
Prior to the civil war, she was sent as a diplomatic envoy to Salad Land during the Thraxian-Saladian War at age 11, and volunteered to work for the Salad Land Lizard Capture Service. After returning to Zargothrax, she disappeared for around 20 months before reappearing to make her claim to the throne. She is allergic to cats.
Birth and education[edit | edit source]
Leila was born in 2012 to then-Prince Shapur and Princess Yasmina. She was raised in the Royal Nursery in Castle Zargo, being educated alongside her elder sister Princess Mina by private tutors. The education of the princesses omitted many scientific subjects; with "traditionally feminine" aspects being emphasised instead. Leila has been a vocal critic of the lack of educational opportunities for girls in Zargothrax since the age of 11. She repeatedly publicly asked to be sent to boarding school.
Cat dispute[edit | edit source]
In June 2023, Leila's father King Shapur adopted twelve cats, claiming he had been instructed to by a "vision from God". Leila publicly objected to this in view of the media, due to her cat allergy[1]. After her father began making it a law that each household has to own at least one cat[2], Leila (aged 11) began to publicly voice opposition to her father's rule.
Salad Land lizards[edit | edit source]
In August 2023, Leila was sent by her father as a diplomatic envoy to Salad Land to discuss the Thraxian-Saladian War. After delivering her father's message, it is believed that Leila was compelled to stay in Salad Land by the Marquis Bastien de Salad as a semi-hostage while he travelled to Zargothrax to meet with her father. While in Salad Land, however, Leila volunteered to work for the Salad Land Lizard Capture Service and assist in trapping 400 lizards which had escaped in Salad Land en route to her father's laboratory. During this time, she captured a large number of lizards, making her the most efficient employee of the SLLCS, despite her age.
Disappearance[edit | edit source]
In late November 2023, Leila vanished from the capital city of Castle Zargo. No trace of the 11-year-old then-Princess was found, nor was there any evidence of a kidnapping. The Royal Family were criticised for a lack of panic surrounding her disappearance, as they believed her to have left of her own accord. The disappearance was not even reported in the media until January[3]. Leila remained missing until July 2025 when she reappeared in Castle Zargo alongside unknown military forces, styling herself Queen of Zargothrax. Her whereabouts during this period are still unknown.
Royal claim[edit | edit source]
In July 2025, Leila reappeared during a coronation ceremony where she was crowned as Queen Leila I of Zargothrax, the country's first Queen Regnant. This followed the seizure of territory previously controlled by Chief Advisor Hashemi since the outbreak of the Thraxian Civil War in November 2024 by unknown military forces. It is believed that Leila is likely being used as a puppet by these forces, whose origin remains unknown.
