Ufagozi is the largest city and capital of Tuscia with a population of 956,230. It is located in the Ufagozi Region which is home to 4,172,814 people. Founded in 1210, Tuscia is known for it's contributions to classical art and culture as well for modern fashion and design. Originally the center of the Duchy of Ufagozi, it became the capital of the Tuscian Republic in 1867. Located along the Serchino River in the flat Valle de Marino, Ufagozi was originally marshland before being founded by a group of settlers.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Ufagozi is a Toscana translation of Ufa'gozani Anni, a Etruscian description of the land which would become Ufagozi. It roughly means "yearly flooding area".

History[edit | edit source]

People have lived in the Ufagozian Plain, an area of low grasslands and low rocky hill's. However due to yearly flooding it lacked formal settlements and was instead used as a parade ground or gathering space for local farmers. They built some stone structures such as a small temple and societal outcasts often built small stone huts on the rocky outcroppings. In 1210, a disease spread through the region causing local's to gather at the small temple. However while there several local leader's who disapproved over the current local governance of the Pegulian State decided to establish a formal state of there own. The first Major Consiglo was held with over 1500 residents declaring themselves as the "Di Ufagozi", to be of Ufagzoi. A Gran Duomo was elected that being Tedoro I, who laid out the city's charter, governance and created a grand design plan. There was soon opposition from the Pegulian State when they attempted to tax the region in 1212. After being told there tax's where invalid, a small force of Pegulian's marched on the small settlement. However they were stopped by a force of residents who eventually re-organized and with the help of other village's in the area.

Government[edit | edit source]

Ufagozi is organized as a Commune which means there is a directly-elected Mayor and a Commissario Ai Servizi. The Comissario is elected by the 250 members of the Major Consiglo which consists of representatives from the city's 15 Quartieri based on population as well as 100 elected directly by proportional representation. Any member of the Major Consiglo may be called up for service on a jury which decides civil and criminal case's. The Minor Consiglo is directly appointed by the Mayor as representatives of business, transportation, labor, technology, service and government services. These 6 representee's may also remove the mayor if no member does no object.

Politics[edit | edit source]

Since the 1990s, Ufagozi has been run by a Socialdemocratici Interregionali affiliated party with the exception of 2015-2018 when the city was run by Angioletta DeFilippo of the Movementie Orginalle (MO). The city saw widespread political violence in the 1940s and 50s as leftist members of the FPST fought with the city's government and armed fascist group's. In addition during the 1990s and 2000s Neo-Radicalists staged terror attack's in several places before Operation Restauro. Today, the mayor is Teodosio Zetticci who was elected in the 2018 Recall Election as is part of the Azione Sociale. While the Commissario Ai Servizi is Ines Toscani, a independent elected in 2023.
