The Slokasian Mark is a currency unit used in Slokais Islands. The Mark has been used since 1940 and is the successor to the Slokasian Monedar used from 1890. The currency was put in place due to a shortage of copper for coins as well as hyperinflation. The basic unit for the Slokasian Mark, which is divided into 100 monedar, although they are no longer produced.
History[edit | edit source]
The Monedar was created by the Minster of the Treasury, Augustino Gunmares in 1890. However by 1939, as the cost of goods grew more units were required to purchase goods, instead of minting larger units, President Howard Reminez commissioned a new currency to be created. On January 1st, 1940, Monedar's could be exchanged at a rate of 100 to 1. Although Monedar smaller than 100 could still be used. The system was overhauled in 1955 by President Juan Costa, who replaced the banknotes with new designs with images of various industries. As of 2023 the exchange rate from Marks to Sanctarian pounds is 0.0184
