The 2008 IDU Football Championship was the third IDU Football Championship, the world championship for men's national football teams. It took place in Jagera from August 14 to August 25, 2008 and hosted twelve national teams.

The matches were played in six stadiums in four host cities around the country. In the first round of the tournament finals, the teams competed in round-robin groups of four teams for points, with the top two teams in each group and the next two best overall proceeding. These 8 teams advanced to the knockout stage, where three rounds of play decided which teams would participate in the final.

In the final match, played in Cooper Stadium in Stormdale, Malabra defeated Groonlo 3—2, securing their first (and, to date, only) championship win. Cikoutimi bested Sidh Ohn in a third place consolation match.

Venues[edit | edit source]

Jagera used the tournament to showcase newly-built facilities in its recently incorporated eastern territories (formerly Ceorana). With the exception of matches played in Himin (in Jagera's Norlands), nearly the entire championship was hosted in these annexed regions.

During the group stage, Group A played in Stormdale at Cooper Stadium (75,000 capacity) and Cloud Field (60,000); Group B played in Wasport at Jongo Green (63,000) and Intrepid Pitch (60,000); and Group C played in Squamouth at Myrshaulk Stadium (55,000) and in Himin at Anorturspitch (72,000).

Cooper Stadium hosted Quarterfinal1, Semifinal 1, and the Final. Jongo Green hosted Quarterfinal 2, Semifinal 2, and the Third-Place Playoff. Intrepid Pitch hosted Quarterfinal 3, and Myrshaulk Stadium hosted Quarterfinal 4.

Jagera paid all team transportation costs between venues, as well as travel to and from the tournament for teams and their support staff.

For ticket sales, 10% were reserved for Jageran spectators, 44% were allocated equally among the other participating national teams (4% each), and the remaining 46% were available for public purchase.[1]
