Aunistria is the official capital of the Kingdom of Legionas and seat of government of the National Capital Region. A planned city envisioned following the end of the Great War, it was officially declared as the new capital city of Legionas on the 11th of October 1995 after over two decades of planning and development. It is located on the Vicdun Plains south of Mt Rosmana. It is the eighth largest city in Legionas by population after Bayview, Verdesia, Wasedron, Moense and Sherfield. It has an estimated population of 4.2 million and is designated to support a total population of 7.5 million residents. It has the highest Human Development Index in the nation, and one of the highest GDP per capita on the continent.

As a planned city, Aunistria was one of the central pillars of the kingdom's postwar development agenda, especially in the 70's and 80's, with the government dedicating a significant amount of resources in the actualization of the city's plan. Its completion symbolized Legionas' aspirations for progress and a prosperous future, especially with its completion coinciding with the end of the 20th century and commencement of the 21st century. The design of the city follows a set master plan, the Paquin-Bentley Plan, named after two visionary Legionite architects and urban planners, Theo Paquin and Robert Bentley, with development spearheaded by them, as well as Michel Dreher, chief structural engineer of the project, Anastasia LeFondre, chief landscape architect and designer, and Dominic Deschamps, chief architect of critical public buildings. They were all students of various architectural styles and visual arts, namely; Art Deco, Early and Late Legionite Modernism, Neoclassicism and Art Nouveau movements.

All three branches of Legionas' national government are centered in this city; executive, legislature and judiciary. The city is also the central diplomatic city of the nation, with all main foreign embassies and missions centered within the diplomatic district of the city, with smaller consulates and missions located in other cities. The city is well connected to the rest of the nation, being served by Theo Paquin International Airport, fourth busiest airport in Legionas, which also connects the city to other continental and global destinations, as well as a rail line and road networks. Aunistria was the host city of the final of the 2019 IDU Football Championships and also hosts the annual Royal Cup and other sporting and entertainment events.

Aunistria maintains a special status administratively within the nation as the seat of the National Capital Region, an Executive-controlled administrative unit, separate from the nation's other regions, and administered as such. The Capital Region contains 32 districts, of which four encompass the original city design, the rest making up what is considered to be the Aunistria Inner-Metropolitan Region.
