Ambonar Province is a province of Slokais Islands home to 4,877,230 people. The largest city is Xulin[a] home to 997,348 people. Historically being the center of the Ambonar Empire, the province has long been culturally and ethnically homogenous. Ambonar Province is also the origin of the Revivalist movement of the 1600s which is primarily organized around the Ambonar Church of God. Due to it's geography Ambonar has a large agricultural and fishing industry as well a industrial and shipping sector which has led to Ambonar having the 3rd highest GDP behind only New Liverpool and San Fernando Province.
Etymology
The name Ambonar comes from a translation from ancient Ambon meaning "the land of plenty". Prior to the 1700s, Ambonar was sometimes referred to as Jorongkan by maps of the era.
History
Ambonar has been settled by humans since around 40,000 years ago. The original settlers being hunter-gatherers who built several stone structures. Around 5,000 year's ago the first organized clans came into formation with the Jorongkan in the Samjarai Cape region and the Borongan in the coastal lowlands. The Jorongkan practiced a system of polytheistic faith known as Kamhanmara or the "Way of Life", the texts of religion remains one of the best records of the Jorongkan's existence as the Revivalist movement saw the destruction of Kahanmara temples. In 700 CE, the Borongan established Xulin Dah Garai Ambonari "The place in the land of plenty" shortened later to Xulin. Xulin was built between several islands allowing for it to become a large trade hub between the interior regions and inter-regional trade networks. In 985, Borongan became involved in the Great War of Faith as Minjian traders where attacked in the port district of Xulin and the Shen Yimu Clan responded by sending a fleet to discourage further attacks.
