Trouble with the Law is primarily a Slokasian television program produced by the Slokais Islands Broadcasting Company (SIBC) in association with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Since 1994, the Trouble with the Law brand has spawned multiple forms of media including several TV series, movies and a video game. Presented as a true-crime series, the show features segments from police officers and other officials. Trouble with the Law was created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1994 as part of "The War Against Crime" Program approved by President Brooke Weasley.
History[edit | edit source]
Trouble with the Law first aired on SIBC 1 on June 1st, 1994 with the first episode based on the murder of Angel Di Ramo, at the end of the episode President Brooke Weasley called for citizens to help solve the case by reporting any information. The format was dramatic as viewers initially believed the story was fictionalized before the President herself came on screen. Di Ramo's family stated the episode portrayed there son as a prior criminal although SIBC denied any wrong doing as Di Ramo had been charged with drug possession before his murder. From 1994 to 1997, Trouble with the Law aired every 2 week's in a 15 episode format. In 1997, Trouble with the Law became Trouble with the Law: New Liverpool and Trouble with the Law: San Fernando.
Format[edit | edit source]
Across it's entire run and various spinoff's most episodes follow the standard format of a main more dramatic case based on a real-life event, followed by a segment by a police officer. It's then followed by a smaller example case which is used to encourage members of the public to either report crime or not engage in a crime. In addition several episodes have a central theme such as "Credit-Card Fraud", "Fair-Evasion" or "Simple Theft". In addition, several series are focused on prevention and response with camera crew's following field agents. One of the best example's is "Trouble with the Law: Scam Response Team" where known scam center's are monitored before agents rush to prevent victims from failing to the scam.
