2004 Bourlogne-Maribéliard tornado

The 2004 Bourlogne-Maribéliard tornado was a meduim-sized tornado that struck two towns, Bourlogne and Maribéliard, on the morning of Tuesday, July 9. Part of a larger early-July tornado outbreak in the district of Momble, the category 3 tornado began just north of Bourlogne and intensified very quickly, reaching a maximum width of around 1200 meters, during its path through the northern part of the city. The tornado tracked eastward through rural fields and farmland into the town of Maribéliard, where the tornado weakened, before it dissipated entirely.

Casualties

The last official death toll from the Wosteaque National Weather Service was listed at 15 for the city of Bourlogne, and 2 for the city of Maribéliard, it is likely that the toll would be much higher if it wasn't for the numerous tornado shelters that were built in the late 1980s following the 1987 outbreak.
